Why Does Halo Zoom Out Every Time I Fire My Weapon?

I've played many other shooters before (like BC2, COD) and when you aim down (or zoom in, wtv), it would keep firing while you're aiming down. This is my first time playing Halo (Halo 3, to be exact) and everytime I try to zoom in and fire, it would automatically zoom me out after I fire my first shot. Is that characteristic of the Halo franchise or is there something I'm not doing right?

lol its not a sight its just gives you a better view of things far away the only sights on that game is the sniper this is wat most games such as zelda or halo do they just let u get a better perspective

it depends what weapon you are using, if its a weapon with a scope that should not happen, but if you just click down the left trigger and it zoms in, its just your helmets optic zoom, wich was added to the game to help you see something far away, the optic zoom naturally unzooms once you fire.
