I live in an area with lots of rich people. And when I mean rich I don't mean people earning like $100,000 a year.. I mean like serious money, like many of these people are worth a few hundred million dollars. And many earning likr $20 million a year. That kind of rich. And anyway there is this high school where all the children of these insanely rich people go to - 2 or 3 of the students there have dad's who are billionaires as well.

Anyway I know a few of them, and my best friend's cousin goes to this school and he says so many of these kids are just SO incredibly messed up in the head. So many of them are on drugs, not just drugs, but also crack cocaine, heroine and other really hard drugs. Many who are not on drugs are also for some reason depressed in a really unhealthy way.. I mean we all get depressed sometimes, but these people wake up depressed and are depressed every day for like a few years.. And it seems so many of them are depressed. Last year this girl also committed suicide at this high school..

Why do you think so many of the very rich people are just depressed and lonely like this?

They haven't got much to live for. Human beings need purpose. They need meaning. To work is to work towards something, achieving goals and so on. Working sets the mind at rest in a monotonous kind of way. No job=Nothing to do, Nothing to do=Mind begins to wonder, Mind starts to worry. Humans depend on the need to earn.
