Home › Religion and Spirituality › What Is The Secret Of Avatara Of Andal Nachiyar?
Bhudevi (Supporter of the universe) the consort of Lord Narayana took avatara as Andal to specifically reveal the laghu upayam (simple and unfailing means) of salvation called the varaha charama sloka as told by Varaha swamy. She gave the essence of the three charama slokas in the beautiful verses of Tiruppavai and Nachiyar thirumozhi in Tamil for our immense benefit.
The story goes that Bhoodevi. on being rescued from the depth of the ocean asked Lord Varaha to tell her by which easy way can she help her children on earth to attain Him.

Our Dayasvarupi, BhuVaraahan responded positively to His dear Consort's request and blessed us with the Revered Slokams known as Varaha Charama Slokams and revealed His depth of affection for His children. He established however some ground rules through these Charama slokams, which have a very special significance.
VarAha Charama SlOkam arose because of the immense compassion of Our
Bhudevi ThAyAr, who is Omniscient and yet asked Her Lord to bless the unfortunate chethanams (Her children) with a Laghu UpAyam to overcome the sufferings of SamsAram and to reach His Lotus feet.

Oh Bhumi Devi! The entire universe is my body (sarIram). I do not have births or deaths. When my bhakthAs with mahA visvAsam surrender to me, while they are still in a state of tranquil mind and healthy body and reflect about Me as SarvAdharan (root cause of all), niyanthA (one who commands from within) sarva sEshi (the ultimate), aasrayaNeeyan (one who is fit to be worshipped),
Sarva VyApthan (all-pervasive) and Nithya sannihithan (One who is always near), then I think of them at their last moments, when they are totally unconscious like a log or a stone and lead them by archirAdhi maargam to My parama padham and bless them to have nithya kaimkarya bhAgyam to Me there.
Sloka explanation
"aham sishyaa cha dhaasee cha bhakthaa cha purushOththama"
In varAha purAnam Booma Devi (currently as ANDAL) says to Lord Varahar on her being rescued that Oh Lord purushOththamaa, I will be your sishyai and dhaasi and bhakthai. ie When she was boomi piraati she wanted to be the dhaasi ie she wanted to be an irrend or a house servant when the Lord and periya piraati says "pick this up keep this there etc" and she wanted to just do that service for them. She also wanted to be born as the daughter (valaRpumagal) and sing in praise of you as your bhakthAL (Bhakti is the message in all her pasurams and she is the mother of all for bhakti maargam). Can this be possible for Boomi Devi piraati to be born as all these three and as desired by her during vaRaha avatharam? (yes) "Purushoththamaa, whatever extent you wanted to destroy the (samsAram of adiyaars) adiyaars from their bondage and they also get destroyed to that extent. Though when the water from the river flows all through the supporting irrigation canals and drainage, the end amount of water that merge with the ocean when the river ends there is never reduced. Similarly if one can enjoy the Lord as sishyai or as dhaasee or as bhakthai, the pleasure never diminishes and only grows for Boomip piraati. ie as per Sri Periya vaachchaan pillai these 10 verses convey that ANDAL fulfilled her own desire as sishyai and dhaasee and bhakthaaL (height of bhakti is poured in these verses) that she had as boomi devi piraati in varaha avatharam just by delivering these immensely loving pasurams on lord ahzagar and it is implied for us that such ANDAL's fulfilling pasurams are the essence of varaha charma slokam as well (the inner meanings as felt by ANDAL) and those who would chant them with the understanding of complete meaning will undoubtedly attain Lord's holy feet as similar to her ownself's fulfillment of desire. ie ANDAL have paved the shortest way for we bhakthaaLS through these verses and is asking us to chant them and assuring us with her own experience. ie Thirumaal adi Servarkale!
