To hold nothing as ultimate truth and to not align yourself with any group.
That is true freedom, although often looked down upon as being 'indecisive'. It is the only means in which you can preserve who you are as an individual, rather than becoming part of a set of distinct groups in society's eyes.
Of course, this is quite challenging, and I'm certainly no poster child for it. Open-mindedness does not mean you cannot have a side, it just means that you are more than willing to be swayed with reasoning, evidence, or both.
