Hi everyone,
I'm trying to work out whether this guy is boyfriend material or not. Please give me your opinion and see what you think.
This guy and I met in 2006 through mutual friends at a party. I'm 21 and he's 23.
He was visiting from interstate at the time, so we lost contact for a while and got back in contact via Facebook late 2008. We've been in contact via phone calls, text messaging and instant messaging since.
I never fancied him when I met him, but second time around, I do! Unfortunately for me, he found a girlfriend in mid 2007, who he is still with.
He thought I was good looking and had a lot going for me (late 2008), but said his girlfriend was a "safe option", so he wasn't keen to leave her anytime soon. I accepted this, but we kept chatting and became closer.
We realized we have A LOT in common, are both attracted to each other, and get along brilliantly.
At this same time, he was beginning to come to the realization that his current girlfriend may not be offering everything he needs/wants. She comes from a broken family, has a low socio-economic status, is very dependent on him and needy, has bipolar disorder, they have differing political views, he doesn't really like her family, she isn't adventurous in the bedroom, and never voices her opinion. I don't mean to talk myself up, but I'm the opposite.
Anyway, I have been overseas since November 2009, and am coming home at the end of the year. I've been studying for my degree.
He is fairly sure he doesn't want to be with her long-term, but is staying with her for now because she is making him "happy" in the short-term and is a "safe option". We are still pursuing each other and interested in each other.
We're going to catch up again, and see how we'd work as a couple. If things work out the way we're expecting, he'll most likely dump his girlfriend and move interstate for me. He considers me an "upgrade".
I REALLY like him, we get along on so many levels, and have a lot in common. I want to be with him.
What do you think of him? Is this a guy I'd want to be with?? Please give me your opinion on my situation.
Thank you!
