Personally, depending on the girl, I'll go about it differently.
Usually I pick the second way, to wait to see how she's feeling especially in a work related environment. This is because when you're at work, you are on a work-related basis.
When out of work a whole different story, if you leave badly on non-mutual terms (break up) work will become really frustrating because there'll always be tension.
