Different gender friends are nice, because I mean.. you're attracted to the person of the opposite sex; and you naturally want to be friends and be with them, but no matter what other people say, and girl and a guy can't be close friends without having some type of complications. It's a fact.
Same gender, you don't have to worry about that and it's not only less tension, you'll be hanging out with the people that understands you better.
I'm just gonna assume you're talking about the type of friendship where it doesn't lead into a relationship: Yes. Same gender friends all the way.
