My boyfriend (now fiance) and I just went through the whole long distance thing (I was three states away finishing grad school) for 7 months. He would say sweet things like that to me and he obviously meant it because we are now engaged. Saying things you don't mean, just for the sake of saying them, will do nothing but come back to bite you in the butt and only hurt someone else in the process. If you feel it...be open...tell her about it (she will love hearing it) especially since you are long distance. When you are long distance, all you can do is communicate...and you have to put forth a lot of extra effort...extra calls, extra texts, etc. However, if you don't mean it...then DON'T say those kinds of things. It gives one false home and then you both end up on different pages in the relationship. No good ever comes of that.
