2) Substitute that into the second equation for X

3) Distribute
-15 -6y -1y = 13

4) Combine like terms
-15 -7y = 13

5) Add 15
-7y = 28

6) Divide 28 by negative 7

7) y= -4

8) Plug that y into first equation
x + 2(-4) = -5

9) Multiply
x - 8 = 14

10) Add 8 to -5

11) x = 3
