an odd sum occurs when an odd number is added to and even number.
sample space: - choosing two even, - choosing two odd, - choosing one even one odd, -choosing one odd and one even.
therefore there is 2/4 options of getting an odd sum = 50%
Also you could try drawing up a number grid and adding all the possible results then finding the fraction of the results which are odd. This also gives you 50%
