My ex girlfriend, who I was with for two years, was the love of my life so far without a doubt. We almost had a baby together, we went on holidays abroad together, we were inseperable. We ended in September 2010. A few months leading upto the breakup we were on and off and I think when September came, I kind of thought we would end up back together again at some point.....didnt quite work like that. Over christmas she told me we wouldnt be getting back together again. I was crushed, but dealt with as well as I could. It was the worst christmas ever but since New Year 2011, I have done my damdest to move on. I havent seen her in almost half a year...I only spoke to her over texts and that was literally once a month or so.

I deleted myself from facebook in the meantime, I didnt go anywhere near where she might have been. I was terrifyed of finding out my worst nightmare...that she has a new boyfriend. That thought alone haunted me everyday since the New Year. Its one of the main things I never got past.

A couple of days ago I got a text from her. She said she was sorry for blanking me so much over the last six months, she was sorry for making me feel so bad. She also said that she was missing me, and she wanted to meet up for a coffee next week. I was totally suprised and I automatically of course...became excited that she had changed her mind and wanted me back.

I told her I had missed her too...but I sort of jumped the gun a bit and told her I still loved her. She immediatley became defensive and said...maybe I shouldnt have text you, sorry.

I questioned how weird it all seemed and she admitted she had met someone else. She was in a new relationship. Turns out she's been with this guy for a couple of weeks and he is based at the other end of the country in the army. So she never really see's him anyway.

She still wants to be friends and meet up.

I have invested a couple of hundred pounds in a brand new outfit from head to toe. Having my hair professionally styled on the day and spending the next week on a high protein diet which washes anything upto half a stone a week away from your weight, in order to look a little slimmer before I see her. I want her to think....what did I give up?

But I dont know whats happening.

Anyone have any advice?

Why the sudden change of heart? At christmas, she said she wouldnt care if she never saw me again...now suddenly she misses me and wants to see me? It sounds good from my point of view I suppose, but she has a boyfriend and the minute I mentioned I still loved her she became defensive.

Is she going to take some convincing in order to get her back or have I got no chance?

Any advice appreciated.

Dude, that was awesome that you told her how you feel... Some guys don't. And it's kinda upsetting after all that time you two have broken apart.
