first we make the denominator the same...
[5a(a+1)] / [(a-2)(a+1)] - [7a(a-2)] / (a+1)(a-2)]
= [5a^2 + 5a - 7a^2 + 14a] / (a^2 - a -2)
= (-2a^2 + 19a) / (a^2 - a -2)
