Applications such as NoteScraps, or Yahoo Messenger Vista Ript foreshadow what will be Windows applications of tomorrow: a revolutionary ergonomic design, look and 3D animations mixed with visual effects galore.

But so far, these applications suffer from a performance problem, especially in their display and launch. Microsoft has worked to understand and reduce these delays. A patch (KB938660) has been proposed for download. It multiplies by 4 the performance of WPF in some key areas. This results in more responsive applications, faster launch.

This patch applies to the versions "RTM" of Vista but will also be incorporated into the final version of Vista SP1. The patch comes in two editions:
