How Do You Find The Slope And Intercept Values Using Excel 2010?
Our teacher wants us to find the slope and x intercept values to a lab problem we have, but I cannot figure out how to do this with excel! I already logged in the x and y values and created a scatter plot chart, but I am clueless when it comes to using the linest formula.
Here are our instructions: Use a spreadsheet program to graph the volume (x-axis) versus mass (y-axis) for each metal. Find the equation for a straight line that represents your measured data of the form y = mx + b. If you are using Excel, use the LINEST formula. The density from all of the measurements is given by the slope, and you should expect the intercept b to be zero, meaning that a sample of zero volume should also have zero mass. Record the slope and intercept values here.
