Yeah, yesterday morning i did the classic 'bought a new samsung galaxy ace 2 weeks ago and dropped it in the toilet' trick. NOT happy. so, i took the battery etc off right away, dried it the best i could, and sat it on a towel, then hoovered it for a bit, then stuck it in a bowl of rice with cling film over it and put that in the sunlight. last night it would switch on, but freeze on the welcome screen.
last night i put a sachet of silica gel in the bowl too, and left it on the radiator (it only goes on for a couple of hours through the night) to see if that helped.
this morning, i switched it on, and it went on no problem, got into all the menus etc, was SO excited, so took the battery off again and put in my sim card and SD card to test the apps and calling/texting etc, switched it back on and it froze on the welcome screen again!!!!
needless to say i was gutted, so its back in the rice/gel bowl in the sun again. I want to ask, is there still a good chance it will work? and when is it safe to plug it in to the PC/charger again, Im worried about losing my data so really want to get the data off the phone, particularly my calendar as everything is in there and iv no idea what things I have to do and when! (i know i shouldnt rely on my phone calendar only)
iv read a lot of things on the net about this, but there are so many conflicting opinions. thanks in advance!
